Partner with Bountiful Bonds for Better Postnatal Care in Uganda

Uganda has made great strides in maternal health, but the postnatal period remains a vulnerable time for many mothers and babies. Too often, they leave hospitals without the ongoing support they need at home. At Bountiful Bonds, we see this gap as an opportunity to partner with hospitals, health experts, and the government to extend care beyond the hospital walls. This is a call for partnership to expand our reach and impact, ensuring no mother or baby is left behind during the critical first six weeks after birth.

The Need for Postnatal Support in Uganda: According to the World Health Organization, over 60% of maternal deaths occur in the postnatal period, with many due to preventable causes such as infections, complications from childbirth, and delayed access to care. In Uganda, only 45% of mothers attend the recommended postnatal visits, leaving many at risk.

Expert Insight: Dr. Olive Kobusingye, a renowned public health expert, highlights the importance of extending healthcare beyond hospitals: “We need to rethink maternal health beyond childbirth. It is essential to ensure mothers and newborns continue to receive care at home where hospitals cannot reach” (statement made at the East African Health Forum in 2022).

  2. Reducing Maternal and Neonatal Deaths: By catching complications early, our team helps prevent maternal and infant deaths that could otherwise be avoided.
  3. Strengthening Health Systems: Collaborating with hospitals and health experts allows us to offer a seamless continuation of care, supporting hospital staff in providing comprehensive postnatal services.
  4. Supporting Government Goals: Our mission aligns with Uganda’s National Health Policy, which emphasizes reducing maternal and child mortality by strengthening community health services.

Call to Action: We invite the Ministry of Health, hospital leadership, and public health experts to partner with us in expanding postnatal care services in Uganda. Together, we can ensure that mothers and babies get the support they need during this vulnerable time, reducing mortality rates and improving health outcomes.

Conclusion: At Bountiful Bonds, we are committed to ensuring that no mother or baby is left unsupported during the critical postnatal period. By partnering with us, hospitals, health experts, and the government can make a lasting impact on maternal and neonatal health in Uganda.
